In 1999 I purchased publicdiary.com

It was my idea to have a site where people could add diary updates of their daily routines and events for others to read and comment on. I envisaged that people could create groups of like minded individuals to share their content with. I even had the seeds of an idea that I may be able to make certain posts private but for a select group of friends.

This was to be publicdiary.com - but I never got past the idea to the realisation of the idea. Which is fairly standard for me.

First registered interest today in new school drupal website

I received the first registered interest in the new drupal school website today. A school in Boston, Lincolnshire has seen the merits of expanding their school communication network into the social media landscape and I'm going to give them something very special.

The template of the site is finished and a snapshot has been readied to make the installation as quick as possible for each client.

It's taken a little longer than expected, mainly down to my lack of marketing, but it's a start and hopefully will propel me into spring!

Advent Vega Tablet

I just got my Advent Vega and despite it's 'big phone feel' I'm really impressed. By 'big phone' I mean that Android is still a smartphone OS and on a larger tablet it really shows. I've had to update the ROM from Modaco, which I have to say really opens up the tablet and makes it a real value for money item.

It's been a steep learning curve to get my head around the android way of doing things but i'm slowly getting there and have started customising my desktop, keyboard and other stuff.

Overall, a great tablet pc for the money. But definitely get the modaco updates.

New school website startup

I'm having a go at bringing drupal into the primary school sector. I'll be providing a few similar themes and a very extensive module and bespoke module input to the sites. So far i've got the theme done and included the modules imagefield, video field, mollum, and a twitter feed extension to publish direct to facebook and twitter. Things are looking really good. Hopefully the hours and hours of hard work will pay off with a venture that really goes somewhere!

Ripped off

Sick and tired of being taken for a mug. I've recently finished a 7 year stint doing web work for a company for a piddly monthly retainer. Out of the blue they suddenly fire me and also short pay me my final month! No words of thanks or goodbye from any of them and then they do that! Unbelievable but true.
